Big Game Party Planning

This year the Super Bowl is coming to my home state - and while that's exciting for New Jersey, it means I dare not brave the roads or traffic on February 2! So (as if I needed an excuse), it's party time at my house! I've compiled some of our tips for a great Super Bowl party from the past years and added some great new ones, too.!

Decorating tips

Make coasters out of AstroTurf by cutting out circles or squares ($1 per square foot at, or go to your local hardware store).

Store the silverware in style by making holders out of painted soup cans. Paint right over the label with brown paint and add some white 'laces' with paint or chalk - a very easy project that makes the table complete!

Football Soup CansDon't forget the essentials: napkins, plates and silverware. You can also score some decorations that really make the party pop very inexpensively at your local dollar store or Party City. You can even get some great wall decorations for a few dollars that transform the whole room!

Every menu needs some spice! This jalapeno artichoke dip is right up my alley and definitely will be on my Super Bowl table.

Need some easy and quick recipes? We've got you covered: here are some great slow cooker recipes and finger foods.

And don't forget to include some healthy options on your menu: here are some healthy recipes including my favorite, baked zucchini fries.

And for those with a sweet tooth, it's easy to keep the theme going with these delicious double chocolate cupcakes. I find the Pillsbury Easy Frost icings super easy to use, and also delicious. The decadent chocolate fudge is perfect for this project!

Finally, check out some fun activities we've come up with, including bringing the tailgating to the party and the most important ingredient at the party: buffalo sauce.
