Pack your bags: SXSW 2014 in Austin or bust!

This week we're heading back down to Austin (for the third year in a row) for the South by Southwest Interactive Festival. As you might recall, South by Southwest is a set of "conferences & festivals [that] offer the unique convergence of original music, independent films, and emerging technologies. Fostering creative and professional growth alike, SXSW is the premier destination for discovery." Though SXSW has been around since 1987, in the last six years it has truly reached an iconic status as a destination for those on a pop culture pilgrimage due to an "Interactive" festival component being added to the pre-existing "Music" and "Film" components. With that history lesson aside, we're excited to head to Austin to learn and discover great ways to keep bringing you the best House Party member experience we possibly can. This past year has seen big changes for House Party, including the launch of Chatterbox, various site advancements and in the not-too-distant future, the launch of our mobile app; so, we're particularly excited to attend SXSW programming that will help us continue to improve our products, new and old. As attendees of the Interactive festival, we're also excited to chat with others in the word-of-mouth and social marketing industries and spread the word about what makes us such a unique and compelling way to reach consumers.

This isn't the last you'll hear about our travels! Just as in year's past, we're excited to keep you up-to-date on our SXSW adventure. In 2012, we summarized some of the great restaurants and meals we tried while in Austin; and, in 2013, we gave a detailed synopsis of the Interactive festival and a networking party we hosted. This year we'll certainly be posting a blog synopsizing great food, fun, conference learnings and more.

Let us know what we should look out for while in Austin (cool sights, exciting conference sessions and - of course - Austin eats that we shouldn't miss). We'll do our best to check out all your recommendations! So, be sure to stay tuned to Facebook, Twitter and Instagram while we're away for travel updates, images of our exploits, conference news and the obligatory BBQ photos.
