Happy Presidents' Day!
Happy Presidents' Day! This day is more than just a day off of work, but a day to take a few moments to appreciate the great history of our country and the people who have served as commander-in-chief, both past and present. Traditionally celebrated on George Washington's day of birth, February 22, the holiday became popularly known as Presidents' Day after it was moved as part of 1971's Uniform Monday Holiday Act, an attempt to create more three-day weekends for the nation's workers. For a full history of this day, don't miss the History Channel's great summary on the subject.
We also shared some info about this day in a previous post. In it, we list some cool websites where you can learn more about our Presidents and how they contributed to the history and development of our great nation.
And, of course, we can't let the day go without sharing at least a couple silly facts about it:
- Did you know that JFK was a huge James Bond fan?
- Did you know that George W. Bush was the captain of his high school cheerleading squad?
