The long winter this year has made me very antsy to get somewhere warm...quickly! While I love resort vacations, this year I'd like to explore a bit of my own country more than I have thus far. I'm opting for a few mini-vacations as my summer getaways and will be choosing from this short list: Spa weekend - find a lovely spa nearby, grab a few girlfriends and go indulge in some QT with the girls and TLC for yourself. I often de-prioritize a spa day due to costs or put it off, but not this year! Spas are always offering discounted packages (Groupon and SpaFinder, for example) so this can be achieved on any budget. And combine a few spa treatments with a delicious brunch or gourmet dinner and cocktails with your friends, maybe even an overnight stay, and you've got the makings of a lovely vacation! Perfect for when you need to get away but only have a day or two to spare.
Napa Valley - I have a few friends moving to the West Coast this year, so I've added reasons to get to California, more specifically the Napa area. I'm passionate about wine, so I look forward to going on some great tours with great friends. I'll be referencing this list of wine tours when planning my vacation.
Jersey shore weekends - as a born and raised Jersey girl, I will spend many weekends at the shore this summer. Many of the shore areas were affected by Hurricane Sandy, but thankfully most have been revitalized and built up even better than before, so I look forward to supporting the local businesses that got hit so hard six months ago and enjoying the beauty (yes, beauty!) that New Jersey has to offer.
Nashville - Combine a foodie like myself and a music lover like my husband, and Nashville is a must-see for us. I look forward to learning more about the music city, visiting the Nashville Zoo and indulging in some Southern fare. Here's a great 3-day plan for things to do in Nashville that I found.
Florida - Described as 'romantic, hip, arty, and beachy,' Miami sounds like the perfect vacation spot for me. I look forward to taking in the sun, spending afternoons strolling (and shopping!) down Ocean Drive, and checking out some great art. Here are more things to do while in Miami. Oh, and I hope to have the time to head up to Orlando and visit Disney to spend a few fun days with Mickey. :)
