Tis the season to save: Best holiday shopping apps

With Black Friday two days away and cyber Monday creeping around the corner, not to mention, office parties, family parties and loads of other excuses to give, we thought we'd give you a leg up, and help you save some dough, with some helpful apps. These easy to use apps will not only alert you to sales, they'll track prices for you, compare from store to store and even give you discounts for walking in the door. You have to buy anyway, so you may as well try and save while doing it. Sound too good to be true? Read on for our best holiday shopping apps... Shopkick: Despite the awful video (brace yourself) this app is great for in-store purchases and rewards loyalty. You get "kicks" or points for purchases at affiliated retailers and if you check into a store with the app, you might even get 5, 10 or 20% off your purchase right then.

Favado: Great for grocery stores and big box retailers, this app compares prices across local stores and also lets you know when an item goes on sale. It tracks and notifies you so you don't need to stalk or worry about missing the sale.

Redlaser: This addictive app (you've been warned) lets you scan barcodes in store, in your house or wherever you are and then tells you where to find that item for less. It also stores your loyalty reward cards (goodbye crowded keychains!), lets you save favorites and compares prices locally so you don't waste time and gas running around for the best deal.

Socialvest: To continue our theme of charitable giving, this app's tagline is appropriately "purchase on purpose." You can add it to your web browser or download the app to your phone or tablet and when you shop hundreds of retailers you earn money that you can donate to the cause of your choice. Now that's the true meaning of giving and receiving.

Milo: Local only, this app checks stores near you to ensure what you want is in stock, compares prices and then gives you directions to go get it. You can even pay for it with your phone and pick it up in store.

BuyVia: Looking for an electronics product? Then this app is for you. BuyVia lets you scan items on your phone or tablet and then buy them via your computer, syncing as you go along. It also lets you know when your item goes on sale. Perfect for Black Friday, Cyber Monday or any day.

What are some of your favorite shopping apps? Wed' love to give them a try as well, so share them with us here.
