Disclosure Compliance Made Easy!

Ripple Street members, here’s how to meet your disclosure requirement with ease.

Ripple Street members, here’s how to meet your disclosure requirement with ease.

The Federal Trade Commission wants to ensure that it is clear to other online consumers when they see your posts in social media, on blogs or in your reviews, that they know you are endorsing the brand or product the event is based on.

Drumroll please...

Here's How to Meet Your Disclosure Requirements as a Ripple Street Member:

  1. Use the hashtag “#sponsored” clearly in your social media, blog and review posts when you’re participating in and communicating about a Ripple Street event and its sponsors. (Easy-peasy!)

  2. Check-out the following guidelines to help ensure that you're in compliance whether you’re writing a blog post, filming a video or posting on social media:

  • Writing a blog post or review online? Copy & paste this line at the bottom: “I received these products complimentary from Ripple Street for testing purposes.”

  • Filming a video? Be sure to script the following into your video: “I received these products complimentary from Ripple Street for testing purposes.” It's also helpful to copy & paste this text in the “About” section of your video.

  • Posting on social media sites like Twitter, Facebook, Instagram or Pinterest? Make sure you attach the appropriate event hashtag as well as the “#sponsored” hashtag clearly and conspicuously in the text of your published social posting.

*Always Remember: If you're unsure on how to properly disclose, you can always reach out to the Ripple Street team for help by emailingcopyright@ripplestreet.com.

Just follow these guidelines as they relate to Ripple Street events and you’ll be good.

If you just can’t get enough of this topic, there’s plenty more information in theFTC's Guides Concerning the Use of Endorsements and Testimonials in Advertising(“FTC Endorsement Guides”) and the FTC's .com Disclosures. In these, the FTC outlines how it requires consumers just like you, who are advocating/endorsing brands and products, to clearly disclose that there’s a relationship there.

If you want even more than that, we hear the FTC might be hiring!

Party on and disclose on, Ripple Streeters!
